About Us
Asteroids is run by Sara Lyons.
Sara has a masters degree in Enabling Learning, specialising in inclusive education and autism spectrum disorders. She is a qualified teacher with over 10 years of teaching experience in mainstream primary schools and further education. She has also worked as a specialist teacher; supporting children with autism spectrum disorders in mainstream secondary schools.
Sara has given presentations at conferences in Thailand and the UK. This year, she spoke at the Think Inclusion conference in Kent and a primary teacher training event at Canterbury Christ Church University. Sara's work matches the diversity of the autism spectrum. This year, she has provided training for Connexions advisers, care workers and local employers. She has also supported adults and children with autism and their families. Sara is a Community Champion for Talk about Autism at Treehouse. She is also a member of the Steering Group for the Autism Education Trust.
In 2003, Sara was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. Her own difficulties, combined with her teaching experience, provide her with a rare view of the complexities of autism spectrum disorders and enable her to offer advice and support to people with the condition as well as those who work with them.
